Building a School Technology Plan

The Virginia Department of Technology reviewed how to make a technology plan for your individual school. They discussed how a schools plan should match the district and should match the state. They gave a handout on how to make a plan, discussed important aspects of the plan, and gave some great resources for getting started. The CD that they provided will be uploaded here soon as well as some of the weblinks that they included.

I Quest Multiple Intelligences

This presentation built upon Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences. Walter McKenzie discussed how to take Gardner's intelligences and level them so that you can incorporate all of them into a lesson. He did this by dividing them into domains. There is a lot of information in his presentation; however, the information was fantastic and can be easily incorporated. The notes from his class are below as well as his website.

Making Social Science Come Alive in 3rd Grade

Dinwiddie public schools showed how to use Excel, PowerPoint, HyperStudio, and Publisher to make learning come alive for students. They had examples of each as well as handouts with activities listed. The website for the activities will be posted once they return to school at which time I will post the website here.

Model for Success

This class was an overview of how Henrico County works their technology department. They discussed planning, collaboration, how to work with students, and the steps essential for a technology program to work.


Packing a Punch in Professional Development

This class started with a survey of our teaching styles. The session went over the importance of understanding our learning and teaching styles and how they affect our students in both a positive and negative way. The notes and the link to the survey from the class are posted below.

Victor Gosnell had a fast pace and interesting class on the newest gidgets and gadgets that are available in the line of technology given by . Everything was discussed from cameras to jump drives to watches to Palm Pilots. See the document below for more resources, prices, and information.


Technologizing Your Research

Joyce Johnston's presentation was about students completing research projects in grade 4 and up. The presenter discussed keeping up with bibliographies, copyright laws, and legalities of using graphics from the Internet.
